    Am I wrong?

Okay a friend of mine just went through Gustav and sustained some fairly serious damage to her home and business. She has an online group and asked me to post updates on what was going on with her so her friends online would know. Well only a few people bothered to reply, until she gave me the go ahead to post a nasty-gram.

Now I have people telling me I don't get their situations. Well IMO I feel this way..if you were 'too busy' to reply to almost a weeks worth of messages about what someone is enduring, how can you all of a sudden be unbusy enough to reply to the nasty gram and for those that get a daily digest, why isn't there at least one reply to the updates, if you genuinely cared and if you just now got unbusy?

Bottom line is I just don't buy it. I had one person tell me they were 'scared'..of what and again with why the hell are you there? You were too scared to post a reply to updates, but not too scared to, once again, defend yourself agains the nasty gram..am I nuts? Do I expect too much?

I'm so sorry about your friend! It's a shame that she thought to have you post updates so the group would be up-to-date in how she's faring and no one bohters to respond! I think part of the problem is that we don't know what to do or say in situations like that. We feel helpless because we're either too far away to be of immediate assistance or just don't know what to say that doesn't sound trite or empty. When you've lost your home, "Everything will work out for the best" is NOT what you want to hear. I agree that SOME effort should be made to comfort her, any words of sincere comfort or concern for her welfare would have gone a long way, IMO. Send her my good wishes and let her know that I have a candle burning for her and her family.
    Bright Blessings,
